Jim Deats

Jim Deats is a Sr. Managing Director and Head of Wealth Operations at TIAA (tiaa.org), a financial services organization and leading provider of asset management, wealth, and retirement services for the academic, research, medical and cultural fields.

Driving Operational Excellence and Scale Across Wealth

Jim Deats is part of the TIAA Chief Wealth Operating Office and is responsible for delivering integrated operations solutions across Brokerage Portfolio Advisor, Investment Management Services, Managed Account Services, PAM Operations, and Financial Planning.

With over 38 years in financial services, Jim joined TIAA in October 2023. As a results driven business executive, Jim’s background spans Broker/Dealer, Private Banking, Retail Banking and Trust. Prior to joining TIAA, Jim was the Head of Wealth Management Operations for Bank of America supporting Merrill, Merrill Edge, and the Private Bank.

Jim holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from St. John’s University and is an MIT ACE Alumni. He holds FINRA Series 4, 7,10, 24, 27, 66 and 99 registrations, and is a Six Sigma Greenbelt. Active in his community, Jim currently serves on the board for the Junior Achievement of North Florida (JANFL).

Outside of work, Jim enjoys spending time with his family including his granddaughter Olivia, traveling, home renovations, and long Sunday drives on his Harley.
